DANVILLE – U.S. Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. and challenger Tom Perriello clashed Wednesday evening in the second debate of the campaign, quarrelling about economic development, congressional earmarks and oil drilling.

Tom Perriello decided to run for Congress after returning last summer from a trip to Afghanistan on behalf of the Century Foundation, a nonprofit think tank headquartered in New York.

In his bid to unseat longtime incumbent Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr., Democratic challenger Tom Perriello has raised more money than his Republican rival.
