In Woodbridge, Margaret Moss scored six goals as the Albemarle girls lacrosse team defeated Forest Park 18-6 in the Northwest Region semifinals on Thursday.

Katie Tubridy had three goals and Kathleen Frechette, Courtney Elliott and Rebecca Maine had two each for the Patriots (14-2), who advance to the region final on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Loudoun Valley.

“We played yesterday, and going tonight with the back-to-back, we were sluggish,” said Albemarle coach David Sloan. “Before yesterday’s game, we had two weeks off, so it was a slow start tonight. I called time out and just had a heart-to-heart and got back to the basics. Once we get it going, the offense is capable of scoring a lot of goals quick, and that is what happened.”

Lauren Hauck had five goals for the Bruins.

With about five minutes remaining in regulation, Kyle Rose headed in the go-ahead goal on a corner kick by Ben Coffey to put the Patriots on top. The Eagles rallied to send the game to overtime, and the district crown came down to penalty kicks.
