The state’s top collegiate men’s tennis players all took a step toward the final at the Virginia State Open Clay Court Championships at Glenmore Country Club.
Recent Virginia graduates Treat Huey and Ted Angelinos will meet in today’s semifinals after dispatching two opponents each on Saturday. Huey dropped just two games in wins over Ryan Radke and Ramon Bernal, while Angelinos matched his feat with wins over Richard Connor and Ignaci Roca.
Dominic Pagon of William & Mary and Albert Larregola of Virginia Tech will meet in the other semifinal.
Virginia Commonwealth assistant coach Nataly Fleishman and Tatsiana Uvarova won their semifinal matches to reach the women’s final.
The women’s doubles final will pit Fleishman and Olga Borisova against Uvarova and Viktoriya Konstantinova. Angelinos and Huey will take on Bernal and Landon Schaefer in one men’s doubles semifinal, while Larregola and Roca will face Kevin Reichert and Phil Thacker in the other.
