Henry Coley, a linebacker from Bayside High in Virginia Beach, and offensive tackle Conner Davis, who is from Deep Run High in Glen Allen, became the seventh and eighth commitments in the class and the first two from Virginia.

Glading adjusting to MLL
Danny Glading, who was the fifth overall pick in the Major League Lacrosse Draft after an All-American career at Virginia, had two goals and three assists. For his efforts, he was named MLL Rookie of the Week on Monday.

For his leadership and outstanding play this past season at Miller, Powell was named All-Central Virginia boys basketball player of the year by The Daily Progress sports staff.

The will to recover
Hours after former Virginia swimmer Matt Miller’s bike accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway, his parents, Mike and Nancy Miller, brother Michael, and girlfriend Emily Privette were numb. They looked for every positive sign they could.

Moyers earns medalist honors
Eighteen-year-old Mikey Moyers delivered his second consecutive round of 66 in the VSGA’s 96th State Amateur Championship at Cedar Point Country Club.
In doing so Wednesday, the Stanardsville resident set the championship’s 36-hole stroke play qualifying scoring record of 12-under 132.
Daley holds lead at Spring Creek
Jess Daley fired a 7-under par 65 in Wednesday’s opening round of the four-day professional tournament at Spring Creek Golf Club near Zion Crossroads. He owns a two-stroke lead over a trio of pursuers, including Ryan Blaum, Chris McCartin and Daryl Chappell.
