The owner of the Tally Ho Theatre in downtown Leesburg says he plans to renovate and reopen the venue as a live music hall.

Don Devine plans to turn the theater into a live music hall for rock 'n' roll acts and other genres, as well as for the Loudoun Symphony, religious services and some films. The Leesburg native says he's been studying the idea of booking live bands for five years.

The last tenants at the theater, Market Street Productions, have been screening first-run movies and staging music and comedy productions, but are pulling out after Labor Day.

Devine, a commercial real estate developer, says he plans to reopen the revamped Tally Ho by Thanksgiving.
