Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in dire need of holiday donations

Albemarle County employees are seeking donations from the community for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

In a release, county employees said the food bank is in dire need of donations as the holidays approach. In years past, the drive has collected about 625 meals and $1,400 the release said.

The food drive will continue until Dec. 14, and has collection points at the Commonwealth’s Attor-ney’s office in Court Square, and the county office buildings on Fifth Street and McIntire Road. Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The county asks that no glass containers be donated. The most-needed items include canned soups and vegetables and dry grains and boxed pasta.
