An Albemarle judge Wednesday sentenced a Keswick man to nine months behind bars for eluding police.
Remington Scott McConnell, 20, pleaded guilty in May to the felony charge. Authorities arrested McConnell in July 2010, when he fled police in a gray BMW after being clocked traveling 67 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said. He crashed the car near Arden Drive and ran before being arrested at his home, police said.
A judge sentenced McConnell to three years but suspended all but nine months of that time. McConnell will begin serving his sentence in May, giving him time to finish the semester at Lynchburg College, where he is a student. The judge also ordered him to undergo a year of supervised probation and complete three years of good behavior.
