A Buckingham County grand jury advanced one count of first-degree murder against Christopher Jerel Moseley this week and added another charge: abduction by force or intimidation.
Authorities arrested Moseley, 20, on May 1 after his girlfriend, Alexis Artice Rose, was stabbed 15 times in the parking lot of a Dillwyn grocery store around 10:30 p.m. April 30. She died while in surgery at the University of Virginia Medical Center hours later, police said.
The fatal blow was a six-inch deep stab wound to her pelvis, an investigator testified earlier this month. Rose's family said she worked at the Fluvanna Correctional Center and would have turned 19 on July 7.
Moseley faces a maximum sentence of up to life in prison plus 10 years and $102,500 in fines if convicted of both charges.
