A grand jury indicted a Nelson County woman Tuesday on charges of arson, murder and obtaining money by false pretenses in a 2009 house fire that killed a man.

Linda Campbell Blackwell also was indicted on charges of arson and obtaining money by false pretenses in two other house fires, county Commonwealth ’s Attorney Anthony Martin said in a news release.

An August 2009 fire at Blackwell’s Creekview Lane home killed family friend James Shelton. Two more fires broke out on the same property, in February 2012 and May, Martin said.

State police and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, Martin said.

Blackwell is being held without bond in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
