A Charlottesville man faces multiple felony charges after a woman was repeatedly assaulted on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Albemarle County Police Department.

James Henry Moore, 30, faces charges of abduction, strangulation, domestic assault and robbery.

Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Old Lynchburg Road at about 2 a.m. for a “suspicious circumstance,” the release said.

When officers arrived, the woman told them that Moore assaulted her as they were travelling to Southwood Mobile Home Community. She escaped from the vehicle, but Moore caught her and assaulted her again, forcing her back into the vehicle and driving away, police said.

The woman escaped again and called 911, but Moore caught her and took away her cell phone. The woman then escaped to a residence and called 911 again, the release said.

Moore is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

A bond hearing has been set for Thursday in Albemarle County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
