Staunton police and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office are asking for help in locating a Highland County man, who disappeared after Dec. 29. The man, 61-year-old Charles Gary Kincaid, was last seen at a relative’s house on “A” Street in Staunton.
“Mr. Kincaid was keeping an eye on the place for his relative while he was away,” Officer Lisa Klein with the Staunton Police said. “He was here for a little bit of time over the holidays.”
Police officials say that Kincaid was last seen at about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, at that relative’s home.
After that, no one saw that man, but Kincaid’s vehicle, a 2010 white Ford Focus, was later found on Jan. 2 near mile post 8.5 by members of the Park Police, in the Humpback Rocks parking lot.
“There’s nothing that shows anything wrong,” Klein said. “The empty vehicle was all that was found.”
The Augusta County Emergency Communications Center was contacted on Friday by the U.S. Park Police, asking for assistance in the search. Over the last 48 hours, members of the U.S. Park Service, Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police have conducted both ground and air searches of the Blue Ridge Parkway, looking for Kincaid.
Kincaid is described as a white male, estimated at 5’10 ft and weighing 150 pounds. Staunton Police ask anyone with information regarding Kincaid’s whereabouts to contact the department at (540)-332-3842, Crimestoppers at (800)-322-2017 or the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540)-245-5333
