McDonnell to host transportation conference starting today

Gov. Bob McDonnell will host his annual transportation conference starting today at the Sheraton Premiere in Tysons Corner.

The three-day conference will highlight transportation funding, efforts to make the state’s roads safer and a 2013 legislative outlook.

Joining McDonnell at the conference will be Virginia Transportation Secretary Sean Connaughton and legislative, transportation and governmental leaders.

A new Riverheads Elementary was the top priority in the recently released ten year plan for Augusta County Schools. Plans have been created, but in order to start construction, the county supervisors have to sign off on the debt associated with the new school. A vote on the bonds will take place Wednesday.
