Michael John Topolosky Jr. Lt. Col. Michael John Topolosky Jr. of Waynesboro, Virginia, age 84, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014. Beloved son of Anna Kochis Topolosky and Michael John Topolosky Sr.; cherished husband of 56 years of Trudy; beloved father of Michael III of Denver, Anna Beth of Stockholm, and Mark of Waynesboro; daughter-in-law, Tracy of Waynesboro; loving grandfather of Michael IV of Denver, Matthew of Denver, and Tynan of Waynesboro;, and great-grandfather of Ashlynn of Denver. Born in Barberton, Ohio, January 2nd, Mike earned his B.S. in Physics from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was a distinguished pilot for the United States Air Force and was a member of the Ranch Hands, while serving our country in Vietnam. He retired in 1974, as a fully decorated combat pilot being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Achievement Medal with silver cluster, along with many others. After retirement, he was a senior manager with Union Pacific in Omaha, Nebraska, where he also enjoyed being a flight instructor in his free time. Mike and Trudy retired to Bradenton, Florida. Mike had a great passion for photography and earned multiple county fair ribbons for his photographs. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held on January 18, 2014, at 1 p.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, 344 Maple Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
