James Madison University announced the signing of 14 student-athletes to its 2014 recruiting class on Wednesday during national signing day.
The recruits will arrive in Harrisonburg from parts of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Florida. The 14 players are in addition to two spring enrollees at quarterback, Vad Lee, formerly the starting quarterback at Georgia Tech, and freshman Rob Nittolo of Hillsborough, N.J.
At the signing day press conference, new head coach Everett Withers said there was no adjustment in recruiting at the BCS level than the FCS level. Withers was the interim head coach at North Carolina in 2011 and served as a defensive assistant at Ohio State last season.
“There's no adjustment, recruiting is recruiting. It's about building relationships,” Withers said.
Six of the 14 players in the 2014 recruiting class are from Virginia.
“We wanted to find young men who were a fit for this school, would have success here and help us win championships,” Withers said.
