Helen Mary Edmunds Helen Mary Edmunds, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace. Born on February 3, 1937, in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mary Symmes Snedeker and Clarence Snedeker. Also predeceasing her are her twin daughters, Kim Lorraine and Leslie Ann Edmunds; and her sister, Catherine Nuckols. After graduating with a BA in Art Practice, Helen had a long and varied career in addition to being a wife and mother. She was one of the Lansing, Michigan Model City Planners, belonged to the Working Women Artist Group, and taught art at the high shool and junior high levels. Helen was very active in the 1960's and 1970's; she helped in a neighborhood food co-op, was a member of the Peace Council in East Lansing, Michigan, a member of the Women's International League of Peace and Freedom, member of the Mass Transit Committee for Lansing, Michigan. In the 1980's, she was a member of an artists' co-op. Survivors include her devoted husband of 57 years, Peter Edmunds; their three sons, David S. Edmunds, Bruce T. Edmunds and his wife, Jill, and Eric Edmunds and his wife, Misa; three grandchildren, Carmen Tallbear Edmunds, Rae Edmunds and Allen Edmunds; and a sister, Margaret Tenser. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 20, 2014, at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Al Horton officiating.
