Dorothy Washington Dorothy Washington, 71, of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Frazer and Molly Austin. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Wood; and one brother, William Austin. She retired from the University of Virginia after over 30 years of service in Angiointerventional Radiology. Her joys were spending time with her grandchildren and she was a pillar of strength who made everyone around her strong. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Dorothy Washington of Charlottesville, and Elaine Thompson and husband, Timothy, of Scottsville; one son, Henry Washington; one brother, Roger Austin of Charlottesville; three sisters, Sallie Austin of Norfolk, Virginia, Christine Solomon and husband, William, and Rosa Abbott of Charlottesville; one brother-in-law, Freddie Wood of Chesapeake, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Clarence Trice, officiating. The Ffmily will receive friends at the Chapel one hour prior to the service. J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.jfbellfuneralhome.com
