The Central Virginia Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is holding its first-ever Outdoor Heritage Day/Women In The Outdoors event, Saturday Sept. 28, at Camp Friendship, 573 Camp Friendship Way in Palmyra. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a $20 fee (cash or check only) that will cover a cookout-style lunch, all the day’s activities, and one entry into a raffle, which will be drawn at the event’s close at approximately 4:30. All proceeds will be donated to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation.

Activities commence at 9 a.m., and will include fishing, fly-fishing seminars, skeet shooting, forest exploration, hiking, wildlife and nature photography, canoeing, BB gun range shooting, and a Miss Queen Gobbler contest. Tickets may be purchased for a fundraising raffle held at noon, following lunch.

Sponsors and supporters of this Outdoor Heritage Day include the Albemarle Angler, Central Virginia Sporting Clays, Orange County High School Anglers, Weight Watchers, and Woodbrook Sports and Pro Shop.

If you are an organization or business that would like to donate or attend as a vendor, or a prospective attendee, contact Sherwood Londeree at (434) 589-2416 for more information.
