Construction has begun on new commercial structures in the Culpeper Colonnade Shopping Center to house Dick's Sporting Goods and Panera Bread.
April Laney, leasing agent for Colonnade owner Regency Centers, said Friday that both companies have signed leases for the new buildings and are expected to open next year.
"We are projecting openings for both in summer of 2014," Laney said. "They both have signed off on leases, they have their permits and everything looks good."
Laney said the Dick's Sporting Goods store will be about 30,000 square feet. The building is under construction between Target and Martin's grocery store.
Panera's building, which Laney said will feature a drive-through, is being constructed on the lot between Chick-Fil-A and Capital One Bank.
Laney said that structure will be about 4,000 square feet.
Dick's, which is headquartered in Pennsylvania, describes its outlets on its website as "sporting goods and retail."
St. Louis-based Panera Bread offers a variety of food, but mainly highlights its freshly baked breads on its website.
Layne acknowledged that additional changes are pending at Culpeper Colonnade, but leases are not yet signed. No announcements are being made at this time.
"It will probably be 30 to 60 days before any more changes will be announced," she said.
