Let there be food, wine, music and the arts.
The ninth annual Taste of Culpeper will deliver all four and much more this Sunday in historic downtown Culpeper in the Depot District near the corner of Davis and Commerce Streets.
The celebration will last from noon to 5 p.m. Advance tasting tickets are $15 online up until Saturday and $25 at the gate Sunday. General admission for designated drivers or those not wishing to drink or purchase alcohol are $5 at the gate. Admission for those 12 and under is free.
A tasting admission ticket gets you a souvenir wine glass and free tastings throughout the day. However, most food and activities are not included in the cost of admission.
“The event is sure to please wine enthusiasts, foodies and followers of unique arts and crafts,” said representatives of the Culpeper Renaissance Inc., the group who sponsors this annual event. “Experience the very best in Virginia wines, local cuisine and even a few microbrews will be available for purchase.”
Sunday’s annual event will feature more than 40 different wines, live music, cooking demonstrations, waiters’ race, activities for children including a moonbounce, art projects and games.
In 2012, the National Main Street Center presented CRI with the “Great American Main Street Award,” stating that “CRI has asserted this historic downtown’s appeal by investing in its southern charm and eclectic small businesses—helping to guide its recovery from a 2011 earthquake.”
Tickets for Sunday’s event are available online at tasteofculpeper.eventbrite.com; Vinosity (174 E. Davis Street), Randy’s Flowers (211 W. Evans Street), all Culpeper StellarOne locations, and the Culpeper Renaissance office (127 W. Davis Street).
