The future is now, and now is a great time to celebrate it.

The Daily Progress and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce are looking for help from the community in recognizing and honoring 10 entrepreneurs, leaders and influencers under the age of 40 who are shaping the area’s future.

“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the entrepreneurial and leadership talents from across all facets of our community,” said Peter Yates, Daily Progress publisher. “And we’re excited to invite the community to help us identify worthy candidates.”

Nominations for the 10 Under 40 awards will be accepted through April 30. The 10 honorees will be determined by a panel of local business and community leaders and announced in a June publication.

Qualifying persons should be younger than 40 as of June 30 and do business in Charlottesville and/or the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson or Orange.

Honorees will be profiled and photographed for the publication, which will include a broader story on the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Charlottesville.

One person will be chosen from each of the following categories: technology; bio/life sciences; entrepreneur; finance; real estate; medical; nonprofit organizations and services; restaurant/entertainment; education; and civic engagement.
