ZACK WAJSGRAS/THE DAILY PROGRESS Virginia head coach Tony Bennett answers media questions during a press conference ahead of Virginia's National Championship match up against Texas Tech at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. Both teams are competing in the title game for the first time in school history.

Virginia reportedly landed a commitment from NJCAA first team All-American Tomas Woldetensae on Wednesday.

Woldetensae, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard, averaged 17.3 points per game and shot 47.6 percent from long range this past season at Indian Hills Community College.

The native of Italy fills one of the Cavaliers' final three scholarship openings for the coming season. He can contribute right away for a team that'll be without its three leading scorers from last's season NCAA championship team. Guards Kyle Guy, De'Andre Hunter and Ty Jerome have all declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Woldetensae joins Virginia's incoming class of guard Casey Morsell, center Kadin Shedrick and forward Justin McKoy.  The Cavaliers on Friday will learn the college decision of hyped guard Johnny Juzang.
