The Virginia baseball team earned the No. 9 seed in the ACC Tournament and will play No. 5-seed North Carolina on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Durham, North Carolina.

Coach Brian O'Connor's team will then play No. 4-seed Miami on Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Cavaliers, Tar Heels and Hurricanes, who comprise Pool D, will play each other in a round-robin format. The team with the best record in the pool will then play the winner of Pool A in the tournament semifinal Saturday. Pool A includes No. 1-seed Louisville, No. 8-seed Clemson and No. 12-seed Boston College.

Virginia played both North Carolina and Miami during the regular season.

The Hurricanes swept the Cavaliers in Charlottesville on April 13-14, winning all three games of the series by three runs or fewer.

Two weeks later in Chapel Hill, Virginia won the series opener against North Carolina but dropped the last two games, both by a score 5-4.

The Cavaliers (32-22) won six of their eight final regular season games. They swept a home-and-home series with VCU and took two of three games against both Louisville and Virginia Tech.

Virginia aims to strengthen its NCAA Tournament resume with a strong showing this coming week in Durham.
