Observatory and South Rivanna Water Treatment Plants, Rehabilitation and Expansion Project Charlottesville, Virginia Contractor's Breakfast and Informational Meeting Date: Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 8:30 A.M. The Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority (RWSA) will be soliciting bids for a rehabilitation and expansion project at the South Rivanna Water Treatment Plant (SRWTP) and the Observatory Water Treatment Plant (OBWTP), which are both conventional surface water treatment facilities. RWSA is inviting firms to participate in an informational breakfast as a means to introduce the project. The breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. on September 26th at the DoubleTree by Hilton Charlottesville. After the breakfast there will be an opportunity to visit the sites. The estimated construction cost is approximately $30 - $35 million. During the breakfast, RWSA's engineer, Short Elliot Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®), will present an overview of the project. No drawings or contract documents will be made available at the event. Work at the 12 MGD SRWTP generally consists of expanding the existing Filter Building to add two new gravity filters and the construction of a new Administration Building, a new Chemical Building, and a new masonry/brick enclosure over the liquid lime storage area. Work at OBWTP generally consists of expanding the existing capacity to 10 MGD, construction of a new Chemical Building, constructing an addition to the Filter Building, constructing an addition to the existing GAC Facility, demolishing and reconstructing five concrete gravity filters, installing plate settlers and hoseless sludge collectors in two sedimentation basins, and demolishing two existing sedimentation basins. Work common to both facilities includes new process piping and valves, process pumps, chemical feed systems, underground utility work, architectural upgrades, building and process equipment painting, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, roofing and site work. This event is an opportunity for contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to interact and become acquainted with one another and the upcoming project. Attendance at this event is not mandatory for bidding this project. A pre-bid meeting will be scheduled later in 2019. Firms attending the breakfast will still be required to meet the minimum contractor qualifications.
