The American
Chestnut:

The Tree That Made America

This month The Lodge welcomes Warren Laws, a
representative of the American Chestnut Foundation,
presenting The American Chestnut: The Tree
That Made America.
Warren will be discussing
the significant impact of
The American Chestnut
Tree on our country, and how over 100
years ago it almost became extinct due to
an imported fungus. In fact, four billion
chestnut trees died at that time in one of
North America’s worst environmental disasters.
He’ll tell us why this tree was so valuable
to America and about the current efforts to
restore it to its native habitat. Warren has
been involved with The America Chestnut
Foundation for 11 years and currently serves as Vice President of
Education for the Virginia Chapter. This presentation will surely be a
most interesting and educational experience for us all. Make your plans
and reservations today. Seating is limited.
Make your reservation early.
