James Madison coach Mike Houston said that the team will honor Darius Minor on Thursday prior to the Dukes' home game with Robert Morris.
Minor, a former Orange County High School standout, was a freshman on Maine’s football team when he collapsed and died during workouts on July 24.
The cause of death was “acute aortic dissection with cardiac tamponade with hypertensive cardiovascular disease as a contributing factor.”
JMU will wear a decal on the back of its helmets with Minor’s number and initials, and have a moment of silence before the game. Houston said he got to know Minor through the recruiting process.
“He was on our campus multiple times,” Houston said. “He was an outstanding young man, a very talented athlete.”
