The Tuesday Evening Concert Series, which brings rising stars and returning favorites to Cabell Hall Auditorium, will begin its 2019-20 season at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 with a performance by Pacifica Quartet with guitarist Sharon Isbin.
The program will include works by Turina, Boccherini, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Vivaldi and Puccini. Underwriters are David W. Garrison and Mary Jane King, and David Sansone.
Cellist Amit Peled and pianist Noreen Polera will return to perform works by Beethoven, Cassado and Strauss at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22. The Maurice Amado Foundation is the principal underwriter, Mary Vee Connell is underwriter and the Watterson Foundation is underwriting the children’s concert.
Pianist Vadym Kholodenko is back at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 with a program of music by Mozart, Beethoven and Godovsky. Principal underwriter is Cecile Zinberg; Woodard Properties is underwriter.
The Faust-Queyras-Melnikov Trio will present an all-Beethoven program to start the new year’s concerts at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4, 2020. Virginia National Bank is principal underwriter, and Carolyn and David Beach are underwriters.
On Feb. 25, Venice Baroque Orchestra will take the stage with mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg to perform selections by Orlandini, Giacometti, Hasse, Handel and Vivaldi. Principal underwriters are Vesta Lee Gordon and BB&T Wealth.
Violist Tabea Zimmermann and pianist Javier Perianes will perform on March 17.The program includes works by Schubert, Brahms, de Falla, Albeniz, Villalobos and Piazzolla. The underwriters are Bob Bond, in memory of Kathy Bond, and UVa Cavalier Travels.
The season finale will be an April 21 concert by Les Violons du Roy and mandolinist Avi Avital, who will team up to present works by J.S. Bach and Vivaldi. Principal underwriters are Darrell & King LLC and Cecile Zinberg.
Free parking is provided at the Central Grounds Parking Garage on Emmet Street.
