Feeding Greene, the county’s food pantry, is in need of volunteers to help with food distribution to families, stocking of shelves on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am. to noon, data entry, food pickup at local grocery stores on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. and relief drivers to deliver groceries to homebound families from 3-5 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The Greene County Virginia Amateur Radio Club will participate in the annual U.S. and Canada ham radio event, beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. Ham operators set up their gear and try to contact as many other hams as possible during a 24-hour period. It will end at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.

The Greene County Democrats invite the public for a Potluck Dinner on Sunday, June 23, from 5-7 p.m. to discuss initiatives for 2019 at the Grace Episcopal Church Hall in Stanardsville. Queens & Kings of Courage Central Virginia fundraising pageant will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. at William Monroe High School in Stanardsville. Contestants can be from anywhere in Central Virginia. Every dollar earned from entry fees, donations, money from concessions and money raised will go to the American Cancer Society in memory of Owen Barber, who died earlier after being diagnosed with T-All cancer (an aggressive rare type of leukemia).
