Long-time Greene County resident Tom Flynn has announced his candidacy for the Ruckersville seat on the Greene County Board of Supervisors. Flynn, who is running as an independent in the Nov. 5 election, cited a need for continued progress with careful fiscal considerations.
“Greene County has spent the last several years working to make progress on projects that should have been underway years ago. As our county continues to grow we need to be fiscally prudent but forward-thinking. We cannot undo the changes or lack of progress from the past, and we also cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend we can close the county to further growth and development. I look forward to working closely with the commissioner of revenue and treasurer to examine our tax collection practices and determine the most fiscally responsible way forward.”
Flynn has lived in Greene County since 1998. He has been an active leader in Cub Scout Pack 174 and Boy Scout Troop 174 and has mentored at least a half dozen young men to the rank of Eagle Scout.
He is a seasoned sales professional and lives in Greene with his wife of 22 years and teenage children. He has mentored with Big Brother/ Big Sister, coached for Greene County Parks and Recreation, volunteered at Greene County Public Schools and is active in his church.
Flynn said he looks forward to the campaign and laying out his vision for Greene County.
