Eloise Gardiner Giles (nee Eloise Fay Robbins) died on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in Charlottesville, Va. at the age of 97. Eloise graduated from the Pratt Institute in 1951 with a degree in Fine Arts. She was an accomplished artist and a beloved teacher of watercolor painting whose activities included membership in the Central Virginia Watercolor Guild and awards in numerous shows. Her kindness, sense of humor and boundless creativity will be missed by all who knew her. She was also an active and dedicated member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Stanardsville. She is survived by her daughter Roxana E. Salem of Williamstown, Vt. and two sisters, Norma Robbins Lasher of Alexandria, Va. and Marilyn Robbins Mars of Chicopee, Mass. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Douglas Giles and her sister, Elizabeth McClements. A memorial service will be held at Grace Church on a later date.
