Under the direction of head coach Patrick Kibler, Greene Hills Swim Club is looking forward to an exciting season of fun and friendly competition with the Jefferson Swim League.
Kibler rejoins the Greene Hills team for his 11th year of coaching as head coach of the Gators. He also coached for the William Monroe High School swim team.
Kibler began his swimming career at age 5, swimming for the Gators under former Coach Chris Taylor. He was an outstanding swimmer for Greene Hills from age 5 to 18, placing top three in the league and continues to be a record holder at the club.
Kibler was also Jefferson District High School Champion and Virginia State High School finalist in breaststroke, freestyle and IM. Kibler is also a record holder for William Monroe High School, as well.
After high school, he continued his career in swimming at the University of Virginia on its club team. After graduating from UVA, Kibler secured a job at PRA International. He and his wife, Sylvia, have five children and live in Stanardsville in. He works with his wife as a photographer.
Kibler’s assistant coach, Tim Kibler, is also rejoining the Greene Hills coaching staff for his second year. He is excited to be back with the Gators, and he, too, was an outstanding swimmer for Greene Hills for more than 10 years of his youth and was also a Virginia High School League finalist. His favorite strokes are freestyle and butterfly. Tim Kibler graduated from James Madison University and works as an occupational therapist at the University of Virginia.
The Gators held their first swim team registration at the Greene Hills Club on Monday, April 22, with more than 60 swimmers registering. The next swim team registration will be on Monday, May 20, at 6 p.m., which is also the opening night of practice.
