In 1917, the year Mary Hardy was born, Woodrow Wilson was in the White House, women in the United States hadn’t officially been given the right to vote and most residents of Madison County didn’t have electricity in their homes. Hardy, the daughter of Frank and Daris Hill, was born on the family farm in Ruth on Aug. 22, 1917 and celebrated her 102nd birthday last Thursday at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.

For the first time in many years, Dr. Johanna Huijssoon has seen more cows and corn fields than cars on her commute to work. Huijssoon recently joined Dr. Oscar Vega at Madison Family Dentistry after more than 30 years of practicing in the Washington, D.C. area.
