A Madison man has been indicted on more than a dozen charges involving crimes against children.
Last week, a Madison County Grand Jury issued true bills in 17 charges against Timothy Allen Champ. Champ, 30, of Locust Dale, was arrested July 31 at his residence and charged with 10 felonies including five counts of carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old and five counts of indecent liberties with a child. The grand jury added seven additional charges via direct indictments including five charges of carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old, one count of indecent liberties with a child and one count of child solicitation by use of a communications system.
Champ was set to be arraigned this week. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison for each carnal knowledge and indecent liberties charge, plus depending on the circumstances, up to 30 years for the child solicitation charge, according to the Code of Virginia.
