Loyd Lincoln Epperly, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at home, where he was living with two of his daughters, Virginia J. Epperly and Nancy J. Epperly, and two grandsons, Thomas A. Gardner II and Timothy M. Gardner, of Richmond, Va. He was born on February 12, 1932, in Webb, Okla., to the late Guy M. and Lela (DeMoss) Epperly. Loyd's wife, Joyce Mather Epperly, preceded him in death on March 5, 2017, they celebrated 56 years of marriage together. Loyd is survived by three daughters, Cora D. Chlebnikow of Brightwood, Nancy J. Epperly of Richmond, and Virginia J. Epperly of Richmond; one son, Wesley L. Epperly of Somerset; five grandchildren, Katelyn E. DeJarnette of Charlottesville, Kelsey E. DeJarnette of Brightwood, Elliott W. DeJarnette of Brightwood, Thomas A. Gardner II of Richmond, and Timothy M. Gardner of Richmond; two brothers Guy E. Epperly of Farmington, Minn., and Edward L. Epperly and wife, Ann, of Trona, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Sandra Epperly of Worcester, Mass. Loyd's brother Robert M. Epperly and his sister Virginia M. Griffin preceded him in death. Loyd is also survived by 31 nieces and nephews and their families. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of James River Hospice in Richmond. Their loving care of Loyd and our family will be forever appreciated. The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison with service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Daniel H. Albrant officiated. Interment was held in Madison Memorial Garden Cemetery in Pratts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Literacy Council of Madison County, Inc., 10 N.
