Madison County’s softball team used a 15-hit attack to cruise to an 11-0 victory over William Monroe on Thursday.
The Mountaineers were paced offensively by a 4-for-5 performance from catcher Cassie Smith, who doubled twice and drove in three runs. Third baseman Emily Seale also tallied three RBIs and a double for the visitors.
Madison center fielder Sophie Adams finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, first baseman Kaylan Boone was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and second baseman Bailey Smith went 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
Logyn Estes earned the win on the mound for the Mountaineers, going five innings and allowing four hits while striking out six and walking none. She also contributed a hit, a pair of RBIs and two runs scored from her leadoff spot.
Freshman Rachel Hill went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead William Monroe, which saw its record fall to 7-5.
Madison (13-1) was scheduled to host Rappahannock Friday, but the game was cancelled due to weather. The team was scheduled to host Central Woodstock Tuesday before traveling to Clarke County Thursday.
