Darah Bonham, principal of Western Albemarle High School, has accepted a new position as principal of Albemarle High School.

In a tweet Thursday night, Bonham wrote: “I love my #warriors and excited to love my new #patriots.........,”— a reference to the mascots for WAHS and AHS, respectively.

Bonham’s appointment was confirmed by a spokesman for the county schools Thursday night. A tweet from the AHS account welcomed its new principal and set a July 1 start date for the position.

Jesse Turner, the prior principal of AHS, recently left the school after accepting a position as principal of Buford Middle School, a part of Charlottesville City Public Schools.
