A memorandum of understanding around shared transit service in Charlottesville and Albemarle County has been approved by both localities.

The county Board of Supervisors approved the agreement Wednesday, while City Council approved it Monday.

The MOU creates a new formula for the fee Albemarle pays to Charlottesville for transit routes, which is now the number of hours of fixed-route revenue service in Albemarle multiplied by Charlottesville Area Transit’s net cost per service hour.

The MOU adds reporting and performance requirements, as well as procedures on how to change service.
