The two nominees for the 5th District U.S. House of Representatives race have been invited to a Senior Statesmen of Virginia forum in August.
Terry Cooper, vice president of the Senior Statesmen, said that, so far, only Democratic nominee Leslie Cockburn has accepted an invitation to the debate-style event. Denver Riggleman, the Republican nominee, did not confirm whether he would attend.
The forum will happen regardless of Riggleman’s participation, said Cooper.
Preston Bryant — a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates and chairman of the National Capital Planning commission during Barack Obama’s presidency — will moderate the forum.
The event is set for 1:30 to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Senior Center at 491 Hillsdale Drive.
