Artist P. Buckley Moss recently received the Shenandoah Bowl award from the Shenandoah Valley Travel Association.

SVTA is a membership tourism group encompassing the geographic boundaries of the Shenandoah Valley in a portion of Virginia and West Virginia covering 250 miles along the foothills of the famous Blue Ridge Mountains. Formed in 1924, the SVTA is the oldest regional, private-sector destination marketing organization in the United States.

The Shenandoah Bowl, one of Virginia’s most prestigious awards, has been presented for 60 years under the auspices of the SVTA. The award is given to an individual or entity for an accomplished career and/or achievement that has, over the years, resulted in invaluable Shenandoah Valley recognition and awareness.

The recipient is chosen by an anonymous committee of industry leaders from the Shenandoah Valley.

Some of the past recipients include renowned photographer O. Winston Link, former U.S. Senators John Warner and Harry F. Byrd Jr., the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, the Statler Brothers, acclaimed historical documentary producer Ken Burns and Virginia Hensley Dick -- better known as Patsy Cline.
