MOUNT SOLON — Red Wing Roots Music Festival organizers announced a fifth stage for this year’s festival. The stage will have a view across the Shenandoah Valley.
The festival is July 12-14 at Natural Chimneys Park in Mount Solon. Performances this year include Lucinda Williams, The Wood Brothers, Mandolin Orange, Peter Rowan and many more. Red Wing Roots Music Festival features more than 40 bands throughout the weekend.
The Hill Stage is new this year, and was built in a small natural amphitheater with a view across the Shenandoah Valley. According to a press release, the 16x14-foot stage will offer a more intimate setting to watch live music and give artists a new venue to perform acoustic-oriented sets and collaborate with other musicians.
“This stage will enhance the experience for our loyal fans, friends and family,” Jeremiah Jenkins of Black Bear Productions said in a release. “Red Wing will be getting better this year – but not bigger.”
The Hill Stage is located on property adjacent to Natural Chimneys Park that was recently purchased by festival organizers. The new property is also being used for more campsites.
