Man arrested in Sheetz assault

Landon Obrien Clark, 25, of Crimora, was arrested on two felony charges and one misdemeanor.

A man was arrested after an assault and a gun was fired at Sheetz in Waynesboro on Sunday night. The man turned himself in Tuesday.

Landon Obrien Clark, 25, of Crimora, was arrested on two felony charges and one misdemeanor. Clark was charged with use of a firearm, malicious wounding and reckless handling of a gun to endanger life, limb or property.

Clark turned himself in on Tuesday morning and was released on bond.

Police were first called to Sheetz in Waynesboro, 2156 W Main Street, on Sunday at about 9:20 at night. When they arrived, the people involved had fled in vehicles and were no longer at the scene. Officers secured the crime scene and began their investigation.

Police discovered an injured person had been taken to Augusta Health by a witness and was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The injured person was released a few hours later.

A firearm was discharged during the assault in the parking lot, the Waynesboro Police Department release said. The bullet struck the Sheetz building, but nobody was injured via the gunshot. The injuries of the person taken to the hospital were determined to be related to the assault and not the gunshot.
