A judge on Thursday sentenced a 33-year-old Greenville man to a year in prison for the abduction of his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Patrick Evan Henderson will get credit for almost eight months served in jail, said defense attorney David Smith.
Authorities said Henderson forced his way into an apartment and knocked down a grandmother to snatch the girl in late-August. Testimony later indicated the girl went willingly.
Judge Victor V. Ludwig sentenced him to suspended time on the abduction and breaking and entering charges. His active time of one year was for a charge of possession of pornographic photographs of the girl.
The judge acknowledged mitigating circumstances on the first two charges, but warned Henderson that his suspended sentences will be “hanging over his head” should he be charged for any other incidents with the girl.
Henderson awaits a May 4 hearing in juvenile court on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of the girl.
