STRASBURG — Stuarts Draft punched its ticket to the Class 2 state baseball tournament in a big way Wednesday as the Cougars crushed the Strasburg Rams 17-3 in the Region 2B semifinals.

The Cougars had this one settled before Strasburg ever came to the plate. Draft plated five runs in the top of the first inning, thanks to a trio of errors by the Rams.

Draft never took its foot off the throttle the rest of the way in clinching the state berth.

Aric Gutt, Henry Cooke, Dawson Jones and Easton Martin all collected three RBIs in the rout.

The Cougars travel to Shenandoah District rival and defending Class 2 state champion Page County on Friday for the Region 2B championship battle. The winner will host the Region 2A runner-up Tuesday in the state quarterfinals, while the loser travels to the Region 2A championship.
