Robert Nathaniel Bowles passed away peacefully at Charlottesville Health and Rehab facility on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, surrounded by family. Robert was born on June 9, 1942, in Albemarle County, to the late Letitia Ann Bowles Gardner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Bowles. "Bowles" attended Albemarle County Schools and medically retired from Southern Railroad Company. He enjoyed watching wrestling and sports, playing cards, spending time with family and friends, fishing and shopping. Robert leaves to cherish in his memory a devoted family, four brothers, Edgar Bowles, James, Bobby and Wayne Gardner; four sisters, Frances Lee, Susie Bowles, Florence Grady, and Annie Holden; four sons, Robert and Ronomy Bowles, Jerome and Stephen White; four daughters, Roberta Dhaiti, Loretta White-Martin, Jamie Mills and the late Cynthia White; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; devoted friends, the Woods family, George J'arrante, and Arnelle Carter; longtime caregiver, Ruth Minor, and a host of other family members and friends. The family would like to thank Hill and Wood Funeral Service, Charlottesville Health & Rehab, Stephanie Commander, Martha Jefferson Hospital, New Beginnings Christian Community, and JABA for their continuous and loving support. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hill and Wood Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
