Eric Charles Cressman, a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, in-law, cousin and friend; finished his race to the finish early Tuesday morning, June 18, 2019, at his home. Eric affectionately called "Jake" or "Ice" was born on April 26, 1971, in Camden, New Jersey, to Sandra Cressman Smith and the late Carl Cressman. Eric attended Culpeper County High School. Upon graduation, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University. In 1991, he was employed as a part-time supervisor for United Parcel Service (UPS) and then was offered a full-time position, as a Feeder Driver. He remained committed until Tuesday, June 18, 2019! He had a passion for bodybuilding, football, boxing, and MMA fighting. In Eric's opinion, the only credible NFL team worth watching is the Philadelphia Eagles! Eric had an affinity for haberdashery, fine automobiles and became a "foodie. "He was known for making a mean Crème Brule. He had a tradition of making Sunday morning Waffles with the kids! He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family, and friends and enjoying life! After he conquered/beat his illness in 2018, he demonstrated the power of healing from the Most High God! Eric is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Madelyn Bowles Cressman; his lovely daughters, Lena Christine and Ava Lorraine; his mother, Sandy Cressman Smith; stepfather, John Smith of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Beth Hawkins and Jenifer Cressman-Wright and brother-in-law, Chris Wright of Peoria, Ariz; nieces, Emily Hawkins, and Savedra Bryant; nephews, Jordan Hawkins, Jacob Wright of Peoria, Ariz., and DeNeil Bryant; mother-in-law, Leartis Bowles and significant other, C.J. Johnson; sister-in-law, Michelle Bowles Allen (Zan); great-nieces and nephews, Ayden Hawkins, Carley Vargas, Chad Hinegardner of Peoria, Ariz., and Jazhara and Josiah Bryant; and a host of cousins and friends that are like family. He will forever be missed by his best friends and brothers, Big Dog, Redman, Kewal, Pork Chop, Candy Man, Joe, Mister, Captain Kirk, Man, and Duck. He had a host of friends that he kept in contact with over the years and they were loved just as much! In addition, he will be missed by his furry canines, Charlie "Chuck" and "Chi-Chi". A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church 105 Lankford Avenue, Charlottesville, Va., at 1 p.m. The family will gather one hour prior to the memorial. J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
