Horace James "Jimmy" Gibson, 69, of Gladstone, gained his wings on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at home. He was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late James R. Gibson and Mary Woody. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Haislip. He is survived by his four daughters, Betty and Scott Folsom of Gladstone, Laura (Sissy) and Thomas Moon of Enville, Tenn., Patricia Gibson of Esmont, and Tammy and Mike Young of Schuyler; two sons, Brian and LeeAnn Tate of Scottsville, and James and Cheryl Tate of Bedford, his roommate and Pomeranian, Baby Girl, 21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; mother of his four girls, Laura Thacker of Esmont; one sister, Barbara Painter of Covesville; one brother, Barry Gibson of Charlottesville; very special friends, Joanne Dorman and Diane Fox, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Jimmy never met a stranger. He cut jokes all the time and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass, riding the roads, Nascar, drag racing and listening to his scanner. He loved to "nibble" (as he said it) at Vito's in Lovingston, Fox's Cafe, Ann's Restaurant, Wood Grill and Briar Patch. He thought highly of the staff members at these locations. He made a lot of friends through standing in FasMarts in Lovingston and Charlottesville and his jobs with R.D. Wade and Rivanna Waste Authority. The family would like to thank David Rhoades, his boss at Rivanna for making that call and all of our friends and family that has reached out to us. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, in Lovingston, with Pastor Dan Megan officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 6 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston (434) 263-4097.
