Phyllis Jean Bragg Renick died peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, on October 21, 1938. Phyllis attended Fayetteville High School, and Baltimore Business Academy. She held several business positions in Baltimore, Maryland, and managed a construction company office in New York. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Earl Willard Bragg and Mabel Roberts Bragg. Her direct ancestor, John Bragg was born in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1647. She was married to Myron Russell "Rusty" Renick in 1961. They have two children, Dawna Jo McCracken and Russell Dain Renick. They also have a grandson, Jeb Stuart Buckingham. Phyllis was active in PTA and knew and actively supported each of her children's teachers. The Renick family moved to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1995. Phyllis is a member of the Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church. She is an accomplished artist in both oils and watercolors, and is an award-winning quilter. She was a life-long lover of dogs, and it is generally believed that Shorty, Rowdy and Trudeau are waiting for her. Phyllis loved to help create costumes for the plays mounted by her daughter, Dawna Jo. She was a voracious reader, and one of her prized possessions was a picture taken with her favorite author, David Baldacci. Throughout her life, folks everywhere, would stop and watch when she danced with her lifelong partner and high school sweetheart, Rusty. Phyllis, who touched so many lives, took great pride in being there for her friends and family. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church.
