Curtis Eugene Shular, 72, of Walters Road, Orange, died on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born on February 16, 1947, in Greensboro, N.C., he was the son of the late W. A. Shular and Margaret Patterson Shular. He was also predeceased by two sons Douglas "Butch" King and D. Jeffery King. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a retired brick mason, and a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Doris Knighton Shular of Orange; a daughter, Nicole Shular of N.C.; two sons, Travis Shular and wife, Danielle, of Orange, and Brad Shular of N.C.; five grandchildren, Sherri King, Micky King, Brandy Humphries-Betzner, Cory King, and Katrina King; five great-grandchildren, Tessa Peregoy, Matthew King, Gracie King, Elizabeth Betzner, and Kenlee King; and numerous sisters and a brother. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel, Orange with interment with military honors at the Graham Cemetery. Pastor David Knighton will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the funeral service. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting the family.
