COMMUNITY LENTEN SERIES

The Orange County Ministerial Association invites the community to its annual Lenten service and lunch series Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. during the season of Lent, March 6 through April 10, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Caroline Street. Each week, a different minister will conduct a brief service of about 30 minutes, followed by a simple soup lunch. The theme for the series is “Sensing the Gospel.” Donations of canned or boxed goods for Love Outreach Food Pantry are appreciated. This year’s offerings will go to the Christian Emergency Council, which helps Orange County residents in need of temporary support for rent and utilities.

MT. PISGAH PRAYER BREAKFAST

Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, True Blue, will host a community prayer breakfast Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

BLUE RUN CAR SHOW

Blue Run Baptist Church will host a car show with a bake sale, vendors and gospel music by James Shelton and the New Sensations on Saturday, March 30. General admission is free. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the show will start at noon. Trophies will be awarded. Proceeds will benefit the Pastor Aide Club. WADDELL FIFTH SATURDAY JAM

Waddell Presbyterian Church, Rapidan, will hold its fifth Saturday open mic night and musical jam session March 30, beginning with a shared dinner at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. All types of music are encouraged, and the sessions often feature impromptu duets and groups as well as audience sing-alongs. Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Barboursville, will hold its annual youth revival Tuesday, April 2 to Thursday, April 4, with prayer and praise beginning at 7 p.m. and the preached word at 7:30 p.m. nightly. A spring revival will take place Wednesday to Friday, April 3-5, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Services will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature a different guest preacher each night.

Gordonsville United Methodist Church will remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross at its Good Friday service April 19 at 7:30 p.m. The service will center on Jesus’ message that good trees can be recognized by their fruits and how despite its appearance, the tree of the cross proved to be the best tree of all, because Christ’s death upon it bore the fruit of everlasting life. MAIN UNO FISH FRY

Main Uno Baptist Church will host a fish fry Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu will include fish, fries, coleslaw, corn on the cob, corn bread, beverages and dessert. The cost is $10 per person and proceeds benefit the Armor Bearer ministry.
