The blue ribbons were flying and the horses were jumping on Wednesday--and this was just the very beginning of the 2019 edition of the annual fair.
Scrutinizing entry after entry inside the exhibit tent, judges chose the winners of competitions in numerous categories, including jams, biscuits, fresh vegetables, photography and flower arrangements.
Later in a blessedly sunny day, skilled young riders took to the show ring and showed off their technique on beautiful horses.
The fair continues through Saturday and features 4-H exhibits and cattle shows, a tractor pull, Jack Russell terrier races, a K-9 demonstration, Elvis tribute artist Stewart Chapman, an illusionist, an Ultimate Championship Wrestling competition, a demolition derby and lots of carnival rides.
Admission is $10/age 11 and up (or $20 for a four-day pass) and free for children age 10 and under.
