American Legion Post 156 hosted its annual Memorial Day service Monday, May 27, at the post on Newton Street in Orange. Following patriotic selections from the Orange Community Band, post commander Alan Drinkwater welcomed dozens of veterans, patriots and friends to the program and offered remarks on the history and importance of Memorial Day. William Gilbert read “In Flanders Fields,” by John McCrae, before post representatives read aloud the names of Orange County soldiers who died in defense of the nation.
